Clonlea Studios is set in the suburbs of Dublin City. It is outside both the centralised art discourse of the urban and outside the current art discourse of the rural. For PS, Clonlea Studios will offer its liminality as a new context for critical discussion – a sub-urban, domestic retreat. Yet rather than promoting a withdrawal from the world into seclusion or producing a site of passive cultural consumption, PS seeks to explore the potential for such a place to prompt active and critical engagement by inviting constructive interruption, reflection and transformation. PS will open a private space into a dynamic meeting space for diverse practices and public participation.
